What to know
- The result is a JPG, which almost every form and website accepts. Transparent areas become white.
- It lowers the JPG quality first, and only makes the image smaller in pixels if that is not enough.
- It counts 1KB as 1000 bytes, so the result fits whichever way a site measures KB.
- Location and camera details saved in the photo are left out of the result.
- This sets the file size only. If a form also asks for exact pixel dimensions, check them before you upload.

- Is my image uploaded?
- No. It is processed on your device and never sent to a server.
- Why is the result smaller in pixels?
- A small file has room for only so much detail. When lowering the quality is not enough, the image is scaled down so it stays clear instead of turning blocky.
- It says it cannot open my photo.
- Some browsers cannot open HEIC photos from iPhones. Safari on a Mac can. On the iPhone, Settings, Camera, Formats, Most Compatible makes the camera save JPG photos instead.
- Why a JPG?
- Forms and websites accept it almost everywhere, and it makes the smallest files for photos.
